(taps mic) is this thing on?

When my last blog post dropped in January 2022, there was a tiny little Titus doing backflips and parkour in my belly. Anyway, he's 4 now and the sweetest little menace we ever did meet. He has Sam's eye color and eyelashes and got everything else from me - good, bad, or otherwise.

Since the last blog post, this business of mine has seen a lot of ups, downs, ebbs, and flows that contributed to a lot of personal and professional growth as a photographer. As a very new mom in 2022 and 2023 - I had to take breaks during weddings to pump - I decided 2023 was going to be my last year shooting weddings. That obviously didn't last because I was blessed with 7 more weddings in 2025 and 2026!

In that time I've gone through two cameras and a laptop in addition to some pretty significant life events. My 94-year-old grandmother moved into a nursing home last summer after a bad fall. Then, my first homebred registered Jersey cow died the day before a wedding in September. We lost Sam's dad to a stroke at the end of January this year, and one of Sam's friends from college died shortly thereafter. Navigating profound grief while parenting, dairy farming, and running two small businesses (this and my handmade lotion business) has stretched and bent us to our limits, and there were times we thought we would break but didn't. God's grace got us through more than once and gave us the strength to keep showing up. Through it all, we grew.

This photography thing has taken me on so many incredible adventures, especially this year, and I have God and my clients to thank for it. I mean, because of you this little ol' dairy farmer can now add destination elopement to her portfolio! I'm so grateful for each and every one of you, and I look forward to every single adventure in store whether it takes me to Spring Valley or South Dakota.

Anyway, we're still going, still growing, and still showing up. I can't wait to show up for my clients through the remainder of 2026 and beyond and see what kind of magic we can create together.

Again, thank you for trusting me to capture treasured memories for you all.

Gratefully,

Brittany
